Girls, today in the Saturday section there are thoughtful lectures on the work of restorers at the Tretyakov Gallery. 1 Restorers of veneer furniture decorate a cabinet with a semicircular cylindrical lid from 1779, purchased from a private owner in St. Petersburg: using alcohol compresses clean the varnish and cover it with a wax mixture; Gold leaf is used to mask damage to the brass insert; Reveal the secrets of many secret engraved drawers. 2 In the workshop for the restoration of mixed media paintings, mixed methods must be invented: the iconostasis from the Holy Trinity Alexander Nevsky Lavra painted in oil on silk. Both silk and oil painting need to be restored, but the difficulty is that oil paint requires tension on the canvas, and the tension will cause the silk to tear. Silk in a fabric workshop can be glued with fine needles, but in combination with paint it is impossible. This is where rehabilitation innovations are born. 3 In a fabric restoration workshop, a globally significant costume is being updated: Peter the Great's captain and pants! The lining and the exterior are being repaired: the fabric is faded, worn, moth-eaten, stained. Moreover, you have to restore something that has already been restored, but thanks to new technologies, the old modification can be improved. The entire series of the Tretyakov Gallery "Professional - Restorative" can be viewed here.
