Where did the word "money" come from?๐ค
It would seem like a familiar word. But his roots do not go to the Russian hinterland, but... to the Tatars.
The word "money" came to the Russian language from Turkic languages โโ(from Tatar "tanga"). And "tanga" itself - from the Mongolian "tang" - was the name of a silver coin that was in circulation over vast areas from China to Eastern Europe.
In ancient Russia, at first they used Hryvnias, Kunas, squirrels ... and from the 14th century they began to talk more and more often about "money" - first about coins, then about everything that can be spent.
Today "Tanga" is the official currency of Kazakhstan. And with us it's just "money". But it sounds almost the same.
