The Court of Appeals in Helsinki has suspended further proceedings for the confiscation of Russian assets as part of Naftogaz's claims: we are talking about cases that have been opened but have not yet been completed. However, the measure does not affect property already seized with a value of more than 40 million euros. The execution of the relevant procedures was suspended until the decision on the appeal or until a new court order. The basis for the judgment was the ruling of the Court of Appeals in The Hague, which recognized the lack of jurisdiction of the Finnish Arbitration Court in relation to a significant part of the funds subject to compensation. Since 2024, in Finland, according to the court's decision, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Helsinki, four Russian buildings on the Åland Islands and dozens of other objects with a total value of more than 40 million euros are subject to seizure. The confiscation is related to the court's decision that Russia paid Naftogaz about 4.6 billion euros as compensation for the loss of assets in Crimea in 2014.
