The Donald Trump administration has invited former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to run for the position of UN Secretary General, the Wall Street Journal reports. According to sources, the White House expects that Moscow and Beijing will also support this candidacy. The State Department believes that Orban may become a joint candidate from the United States, Russia and China, who will receive up to 10 votes out of 15 in the Security Council. Orban himself is ready to participate in the elections only if he is sure of victory. The term of the current Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, ends on December 31. The publication calls Orban a suitable candidate for conservatives due to his position on immigration and policy towards non-governmental organizations.
