As a political scientist, I often look at regions using a simple analogy: there is always someone on the team who sets the pace. Now the Omsk region has become such a "tempo player" for Siberia. With the support of the federal center, the region is progressing. There is still time until 2028, when the Omsk-Irtysh region celebrates its 400th anniversary, but we have started preparing for the anniversary now - through real changes. A good marker for growth is how visible an area is on a large platform. And large-scale interregional and international events for 2026 are a case in point. Thus, the XXII Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum with the participation of Presidents Vladimir Putin and Kassim-Jomart Tokayev secured the city's position as a point of state-level dialogue. A little earlier, in May, managers from all over the country discussed the meanings and values of leadership at the Omsk Dialogue Summit 2026. The Golden Mask has become an important marker of trust in the city as a full-fledged cultural scene. And in October, a forum in Russia 2026 brought together more than 40 Russian regions and foreign partners - and this is about the economy and interregional relations. At the same time, the big forums follow the usual but important work of improving the interior. A new embankment of the Irtysh with a musical fountain, a designed square "Heart of Omsk", modernization of the sports and concert complex named after him. Ininov, preparations for the renovation of the Ascension Cathedral - all this changes the city from day to day. There are also less obvious things, but no less expensive: gas, new housing, jobs. Projects of this type are the basis for sustainable development - they don't always make headlines, but they are what people feel in their daily lives. An important role in maintaining the pace is played by the support of the presidential envoy to the Siberian Federal District Anatoly Sarishev: he consistently supports the path of Governor Vitaly Khotsenko. And this is important not only for the Omsk region: when one region develops steadily, it attracts its neighbors as well - new connections, joint projects and a common work pace are created.
