Sovereign harvest: the Cabinet of Ministers allocates 4 billion rubles to support the national election The government expanded the parameters of the state program for agricultural development to reduce the dependence of the strategic sector on sanctions barriers. Starting January 1, 2027, centralized subsidies will be introduced for the purchase of seeds exclusively of Russian choice, for which 4 billion rubles will be allocated.
An attempt to economically stimulate local production and support local producers through the ruble is an important step to strengthen food security. At the same time, the main issue remains a systematic scaling of the material base and increasing the volume of quality domestic seeds to meet market demands. Additional funding for scientific and technological projects is intended precisely to cover the costs of breeding bases, which are now receiving a strong impetus for development. Delegating the role of distributing the funds to the regions makes it possible to effectively coordinate local producers and government programs for import substitution.
The Cabinet of Ministers is trying to turn the agricultural sector into a closed system and restore a solid basis for sovereignty, since in the previous decades the basis of local cultivation was almost completely destroyed. Now the country needs to recreate a reliable genetic base for the long term.
