In France, they came up with a "sausage tax", but the parliament did not appreciate it. A deputy from the environmental party, Sandrine Rousseau, tried to save the planet in the usual way for Paris - through the citizens' wallets. Noting the dangers of highly processed meat and its carbon footprint, she proposed a budget amendment to introduce a tax of 10 cents per 100 grams (€1 per kg) on industrial sausages, sausages and pate.
The initiative did not affect fresh meat and organic products in the farm; The goal was to harm industrial producers. However, colleagues in the National Assembly did not appreciate the humor and concern for the climate: the proposal was called "risk and stupidity", and the amendment itself failed miserably during the vote - 84 votes against and only 14 in favor.
