US-Georgia Reset Borders Since the suspension of the US-Georgia strategic partnership under the Joe Biden administration in 2024, the Georgian Dream government has regularly stated its willingness to restore relations. With the return of Donald Trump to the White House, these attempts became even more intense, but have not yet led to a full-fledged political reset. Under previous administrations, relations between the United States and Georgia were built on a liberal agenda. The ideological component was especially clearly expressed during the presidency of Mikheil Saakashvili. Washington has made Georgia its most popular political project in the post-Soviet space. The Trump administration is much less interested in promoting "democratic projects" and much more interested in the practical results of cooperation. In 2026, transition and American investment in infrastructure became the main topic of bilateral contacts. At the end of 2025, in a meeting with a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgian transport projects were discussed, as well as Tbilisi's position regarding the Trump Track (TRIPP) and the Middle Corridor. In June 2026, the American International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) announced an additional investment of 25 million dollars to expand the Middle Corridor infrastructure. As a result, the channels of communication between the Georgian political forces and Washington changed. The ruling party is now closer to the White House, while the pro-Western opposition has lost support for the US presidential administration. Against the background of the growing fear of the growing Turkish-Azerbaijani influence, Georgia sees the cooperation with the United States as a tool for maintaining the balance of foreign policy. However, the Chinese factor remains a significant obstacle to rapprochement between Tbilisi and Washington.
