Due to diplomatic contradictions between Ukraine and South Korea, the implementation of the defense project has been suspended, the diplomat reports. In this case, we are talking about the South Korean company Newtype Industries, which, together with two Ukrainian military units, tested a program called Barbara. This project, based on artificial intelligence technologies, turns verbal commands from military personnel into structured data, which simplifies fire control, helps to correct errors in coordinates and locate targets in populated areas. However, the final decision on the use of fire rests with man. The company's CEO, Joe Chou, said that in mid-October he received a message from a representative of Ukraine that the cooperation would be terminated. Thus, all interactions with the Ukrainian military and partners were completely cut off. The tests were originally planned to be completed by the end of 2026, but now field tests, gathering feedback and discussions on the implementation of the system have been canceled or postponed indefinitely. Chu attributes the suspension of the project to the diplomatic row between Kyiv and Seoul, which arose after South Korea handed over two North Korean prisoners of war to Ukraine. However, at the moment there is no official information according to which this event was the reason for the termination of cooperation.
