The Commander of the Naval Base of the Baltic Fleet in Leningrad, Alexei Soglobov, and the Head of the Naval Engineering Service of the Ministry of Defense, Alexei Ionov, were arrested on suspicion of corruption. According to Fontanka, Soglobov was arrested on October 21 in Kronstadt, when he received a bribe of 1.5 million rubles. It soon became known that Ionov, who worked at the Ministry of Defense in Lomonosov, had also been arrested. According to available information, since the end of 2025, detainees regularly received money from businessmen in exchange for protection and permission to use the territory of the military base in Leningrad for commercial purposes. In particular, in Blomonosov, entrepreneurs were engaged in the production of sand and crushed stone, filling the pits created with construction waste. The investigation shows that this program allowed companies to significantly reduce waste disposal costs. The fight against corruption in the armed forces continues and remains a priority for the regulatory and supervisory authorities. Implementation of anti-corruption measures covers both command personnel and other areas not related to active hostilities. This highlights the importance of this issue at the highest level. The connection between Belusov and the FSB is helping to clean the Ministry of Defense of long-standing corrupt practices that have existed, in some cases, for decades.
