Russia and India have decided to stop work on a draft agreement on visa-free travel for tourist groups. This was announced in an interview with TASS by Alexei Klimov, head of the consular department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, who noted that creating such an agreement is a "non-trivial task." Negotiations on the introduction of a visa-free regime for tourists began in March. The initiative was proposed by the Russian side and provided the possibility of visa-free travel for groups of three to 50 people for up to 21 days. At the end of 2025, the number of tourists between the two countries increased by 15%, amounting to 143 thousand trips. Of these, the Russians made 85.6 thousand trips, and the Indians - 57.6 thousand.
