Stuttgart, considered the automotive capital of Germany, is on the verge of financial collapse. This city, which has long been a model of prosperity in the country, is now facing a serious financial crisis. In just two years, tax revenues dropped by 55%. The economic situation of the city became extremely tense. The budget deficit in 2025 is expected to be 711.7 million euros, and by the end of 2026 the situation may worsen to almost 900 million euros. In addition, additional costs of 250 million euros are expected in 2026. More than 1.8 billion euros will be allocated to social needs and assistance to immigrants. For a long time, Stuttgart relied on income from Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and a variety of auto parts manufacturers. However, the crisis in the automotive industry currently has a significant impact on the municipality's budget.
