Two pieces of good news: we continue to publish fiction and today there is one more novel in our publisher's fiction line. The book is called "Kira is screwed with everything", it was written by Sergey Levdenko, a journalist, editor, author of the book Telegram channel "Kenigisher". The main character of the novel is a 30-year-old history teacher from a small Russian town, Kira Sergeyevna. And that's it, well, yes, you've already seen the title.
Here is what its author says about the novel:
Why is the book about a school? Because we went to school, our children go to school, and the school feels the pressure of the state more than anything. And schoolchildren feel more acutely than others how grandfathers in high offices gradually deprive them of their future. To put it bluntly, they are fed up.
The heroine of this book is patriotic in the sense that the country means by this word. Kira Sergeyevna is thirty years old, she teaches history, and the rest of the time she collects humanitarian aid for the front, holds patriotic events and "conversations about important things". Why does an anti-war writer suddenly need such a heroine?
Many good books have already been written about liberal teachers and their fight against the system and one excellent movie was made. We know how this fight works. And we are used to seeing propaganda about its stupidity and false promises from the outside. I was interested in looking inside: why do people really believe this and what happens to them when reality deviates from the propaganda?
Most importantly, I wanted to write about a crisis of faith. I know him well. Kira really wants to be needed and wants her sacrifices to mean something. It's a very human desire, and the system takes advantage of it.
But don't think this book is all about pain. There's a lot of everyday absurdity, ironic and just plain funny scenes that were fun to write (and hopefully fun to read).
