The St Petersburg club posted an epigram before the RPL Round 12 match, but the lines about shaved beards and torn caps sparked outrage in Dagestan. The chairman of Dynamo, Magomed Bagaudinov, demanded a public apology to the fans and residents of the republic.

This is already Zenit's third epigram in three rounds. In the past, the club mocked a dispute with Krasnodar over tickets for away fans, and then played on the name "Akhmata" in a song before the game with the Grozny team.
