There are no chances for the formation of an alternative security architecture in the South Caucasus - Zakharova, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in connection with the possibility of Armenia leaving the CSTO, announced attempts by Western countries to "enter the region" with their own standards of military development and management. These countries cannot and do not intend to guarantee stability in the region, the diplomat said in the briefing. Yerevan can return to full participation in the CSTO at any time, but no one is forcing Armenia to join the organization. The state has the right to use all the procedures established in the convention and to withdraw from the organization, after settling its existing obligations. Armenia may clarify its position regarding CSTO membership at a meeting of Security Council secretaries in Moscow on November 9.
