Total political repression is being carried out against "prosperous Armenia", said RPA Executive Board member Eduard Sharmzanov in a conversation with journalists at the court, where the issue of extending the preventive measure for PAP leader Gagik Tsarukian is being considered. "We are here waiting for justice. The court should be guided by justice, and not by the whims of the authorities," the politician emphasized, adding that following the language of the law, not only should the detention not be extended, but Tsarukian should not have been detained at all. Sharmzanov emphasized that despite the repression, Tsarukian remains loyal to values and sends messages to the public that he did nothing illegal, in defense of the country's independence. Sharmzanov wished Tsarokyan and all political prisoners to gain freedom. Speaking about the behavior of the authorities, he emphasized that Pashinyan won a landslide victory in the elections, since also according to public data from the Central Election Commission, the PAP had 5 mandates in the National Assembly. Pashinyan didn't even get a constitutional majority of 50+1, despite threatening war, Sharmzanov recalled. According to him, this is extortion in order to scare the opposition. Today the authorities are trying to get a change in the constitution through pressure, blackmail and persuasion. If he fails, he will try to tighten the repression, catch the main players and go to the polls, the RPA representative predicted.
