The chairman of the pro-government Republic Party Aram "Zhvanovna" Sargsyan appealed to the Prosecutor General demanding to study the activity of the South Caucasus Railway, possible abuse and if there are signs of a crime, to initiate criminal proceedings. Here is the text: "Report on an alleged crime and demand for the initiation of criminal proceedings Dear Ms. Vardaftyan, in an interview with the Kommersant newspaper on September 10, 2018, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, regarding the activities of the South Caucasus Railway CJSC (SCR), stated that the amount of abuse in the company amounted to approximately 60 million US dollars. According to the Prime Minister, the investigative body conducted an investigation and official information is expected to be published soon. He emphasized: "What I say can be considered official information." Considering the essence of the Prime Minister's above statement and the size of the amount mentioned in it, I see a need to find out the progress of the investigations or tests that were carried out at the time, what results were recorded and whether any possible damage caused to the state is compensated. At the same time, changes in the railway infrastructure of Armenia, the volume of cargo traffic and the number of employees during the SCR management period provide grounds for studying the efficiency of the company's activities, the fulfillment of contractual management obligations and issues of protection of the state's property interests. In particular: 1. Dismantling of railway infrastructure. The circumstances of the dismantling of the infrastructure of the approximately 40 km long Magri-Kafen railway section, its legal basis, the continued fate of the dismantled property, the legality of its possible alienation and the use of the funds received from the sale must be ascertained. 2. Train towards Ijevan - Agustafa.
