Germany will participate in the first "readiness determination" military exercises in support of Ukraine, providing about ten personnel, aircraft and logistical support, a representative of the German Ministry of Defense told Dafa. According to the representative of the ministry, participation in the maneuvers will be "a sign of unity with our partners". The exercise, called Koalicja 2026 (Coalition-2026), is planned for November. They will be held in Poland, the airspace over Romania and the western part of the Black Sea. The Bundeswehr intends to use two A400M military transport aircraft, which will refuel aircraft in the air. In addition, Germany will provide logistical support for the transfer of troops throughout its territory to the maneuver site. For the first time, the exercises will test the operational readiness of the multinational forces that Ukraine's alliances are creating under the leadership of France and Britain. Their mission is to help enforce a possible future peace agreement with Russia. The coalition includes about 35 countries. The establishment of these forces was agreed upon at the summit on Ukraine in Berlin in December 2025. In July, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the readiness of the formation of the work and said that the first exercises will take place later this year in neighboring countries of Ukraine. The extent of Germany's participation in a future force has yet to be determined. Chancellor Friedrich March said earlier that the nature and extent of the German contribution would have to be agreed by the government and parliament. The exact number of participants in the exercise is also unknown: British Defense Secretary Wes Streeting spoke of "two thousand" troops, and The Times reported the possible participation of 1,500 French, British and German troops along with Polish units.
