Germany started the heating season with records for gas production from underground gas storage facilities.
Gas reserves in underground storage facilities in Germany fell below 60% at the beginning of November - this is an unusual situation in the entire history of observations, Gazprom reported.
Daily withdrawals from storage facilities in Germany reached an anti-new high on November 6: it exceeded the previous maximum for that date by 58.7% (or 37 million cubic meters), according to data from Gas Infrastructure Europe. During 7 out of 10 days from the beginning of the heating season, record daily draw values were recorded.
Since October 28, Europe has withdrawn almost 3 billion cubic meters of gas from underground gas storage facilities, and the net withdrawal has exceeded 2 billion cubic meters - that's more than three times the five-year average. Thus, the countries of the region have already consumed 5% of the volume of gas pumped in the summer (51.2 billion cubic meters).
