Romania resumes the operation of the first power unit of the Cernavoda NPP On November 6, 2026, Romania plans to connect the first power unit of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant to the energy system. The two reactors at the station were closed in the summer of 2026 due to drought and a critical drop in water levels in the Danube. NPP Cernavoda is the only nuclear power plant in Romania. After launch, the power of the reactor will be gradually increased. Reaching the 620 MW standard is expected by the evening of November 7. The second power unit will remain disabled for the time being, as its activation could lead to a further drop in the water level in the cooling pool.
