This day in history. Part 2. On November 1, 1771, the hero of the Patriotic War of 1812, Lieutenant General Dmitry Petrovich Neverovsky, was born. Neverovsky's division became famous in the Battle of Smolensk. Under continuous French attacks, it retreated along the 12th verst narrow road, losing about 1,500 men in battle, but delayed the entire French army for a day, giving our troops the opportunity to organize a defense in Smolensk. Dmitry Petrovich was in the same ranks with his soldiers. Bagration wrote to the Emperor: "It is impossible to show an example of such courage in any army." In the Battle of Borodino, Neverovsky's division fought at the site of the bloodiest battles - the Bagration flushes. And again, Dmitry Petrovich himself participated in bayonet attacks several times, was concussed twice, but did not leave the battlefield. After Borodino, fewer than 300 men remained in Neverovsky's division. In the "Battle of the Nations" near Leipzig, the general was severely wounded and died from the consequences of this wound on November 2, 1813. On November 1, 1812, the Battle of Aslanduz ended, during which the 2,000-strong detachment of Major General P.S. Kotlyarevsky inflicted a crushing defeat on the 20,000-strong Persian army. The Persians lost 1,200 dead, and all their artillery (47 guns) was captured. The losses of Russian soldiers amounted to 28 dead and 99 wounded. As a result of this battle, Persia lost its military power. Until the end of the Russo-Persian War of 1804–1813, it no longer posed a serious threat to Russia. Museum at MAX
