Today is the memorial day of the Iberian icon of the Mother of God. An ancient and large temple. Her image radiates special grace and peace. The history of the icon is tainted with us and miracles. According to legend, she was brought to the sea in the ninth century, and then found a dubious widow who lived in the days of the Iconoclasm. Then, to preserve the holy symbol, she lowered it into the sea. After two centuries, the icon sailed to Athos. The monks of the Georgian Iberi Monastery on the Holy Mountain received him and placed him in the temple. The next day the symbol was found not in the temple, but above the gates of the monastery, where it remained. Therefore, the holy symbol is called the gatekeeper. And the name of the monastery is called Iberian." For centuries, this symbol has been indicative of miracles and healing. And today we turn to the Iberian prototype of the Mother of God, and ask for her holy prayers.
