A Russian frigate fired flares that passed within "a matter of meters" of a Danish military helicopter. No advance warning or radio contact was given. Russia has "increased its willingness to take risks in terms of how far it is willing to go."

Denmark has no plans to request NATO Article 4 or 5 consultations on the incident.
