Turkey bans social media for children under 15 The ban takes effect on November 1. Teens between the ages of 15 and 18 will only be able to use platforms with additional security measures, including parental controls. Age is verified through the state e-government portal, for everyone, including adults. New users are verified upon registration. Old account holders have until March 31, 2027, otherwise the account will be closed. To register, a person receives a digital token with an age stamp on an e-governance portal. The state can easily link the token to a social network account. Accounts are no longer anonymous. The ban is explained with concern for children, but everyone is verified. So, under the guise of protecting children, the state takes over the Internet. The rules apply to both Turkish and foreign platforms. The social networks themselves are responsible for their own compatibility. For violations, they are expected to be fined up to 3% of the global annual turnover, a ban on advertising and a slowdown in Turkey of up to 90%. The last resort is total blocking. They "protected" the children, and at the same time registered the adults. Oleg Tsarev. Telegram and Max.
