Today Vladimir Putin spoke at the summit of the forum of gas exporting countries. Forum participants account for 70% of global gas reserves and about 40% of global exports.

The main idea of the president is that it is impossible to remove Russia from the gas market, and the attempts themselves hurt those who make them. "This is exactly what we are seeing now in Europe, which itself is harming its industry and social sphere by abandoning Russian energy resources," he said.

The sanctions were supposed to squeeze Russia out of the world market. Instead, the country remains first in the world in gas reserves and second in production. But at the end of the nineties Gazprom may not have survived to this day. Large deposits went into private hands for almost nothing, and the state's control over the company was in question. In the early 2000s, the assets were returned, and the state returned its controlling shares. Without it, today there would be no export, no chemistry of gas, no equal conversation with Europe.
