Russian LNG exports break monthly record in October In October, Russian liquefied natural gas plants sent a record 3.42 million tons of LNG abroad, Kepler data showed. This is a new monthly record (+11.9% compared to October 2025 and even +1% compared to May 2026, when the previous record was set). In the ten months of 2026, exports reached 28.65 million tons, an increase of 13.5% from year to year. The main contribution to the increase in exports came from the Chinese direction. At the same time, almost 50% of all LNG from Russia still goes to the European Union, where starting January 1, a ban on the import of Russian LNG will be introduced. It is not yet known where the "rejected" volumes of Russian liquid methane will go. Shipments to EU countries for ten months increased by 6.5%, to 12.87 million tons, but the EU's share of the total volume of Russian LNG exports fell from 47.8% to 44.9%. The biggest contribution to growth in Europe was made by Spain, which increased purchases by 39% year-on-year - to 2.84 million tons. France remains the biggest buyer with 5.43 million tons. Belgium reduced purchases by almost 8% - to 3 million tons. Smaller quantities were sent to the Netherlands (1.32 million tons) and Portugal (0.22 million tons). Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Alexander Novak, stated that Europe is purchasing Russian LNG in preparation for the embargo on it. The Chinese direction plays an increasingly important role in the growth of Russian exports. In the ten months to 2026, China accounted for up to 84% of the net increase in supply, and volumes to that country increased by 47% to 8.8 million tonnes. A total of 15.16 million tons were sent to Asian countries, which is 15.8% more than a year earlier. In October, the Asian buyers received 2 million tons of LNG, while the European buyers received only 850 thousand tons. The other parties did not specify directions. Oil and capital we are in Max.
