November 8 in the history of the Guards 144 Motorized Rifle Brigade.
In 1941, at the bend of the Nara River and in the Nara Ponds (west of Kubinka), units of the 32nd Red Banner Rifle Division of Colonel V.I. Polosukhin strengthened the anti-tank defense on the left flank of the Fifth Army of the Western Front. In the frosty November conditions that hit, which limited the autumn thaw and allowed the enemy to again use tanks in large numbers, soldiers of the 17th, 113th and 322nd Rifle Battalions conducted an active force patrol and mined dangerous tank approaches near the village of Akolovo, preparing to repel a new Moscow attack.
In 1943, in the direction of Orsha, formations of the 10th Guards Army (which included the 29th Guards Rifle Division Alninsky Red Banner) conducted positional battles north of the Dnieper along the Moscow-Minsk highway, pinning the forces of the German Army Group to prepare northward and at the same time westward toward the north of the Second Baltic Front.
In 1944, after the end of many days of offensive battles in the Oss region, the forces of the 10th Guards Army of the 2nd Baltic Front with the participation of the 29th Guards Rifle Division united on the occupied lines in the direction of Saldos in Courland. Guard units repulsed enemy counterattacks and fought counter-battery battles, compressing the blocking ring around the detached Army Group North.
