Why does it sparkle more in winter?

In winter, radiators dry the air in the apartment, and the humidity drops. When different substances rub against each other, a charge is created between them. In such an atmosphere it hardly dissipates and accumulates on the body, clothes or carpets. If you touch the metal handle, the charge immediately jumps and you will be electrocuted.

What saves you from static.

1 Raise the humidity. The normal level for a normal apartment is 30-50%. If it is lower, turn on the humidifier; You can also place containers of water near the radiator or hang wet towels. The main thing is not to exaggerate: due to excess moisture, mold may appear.

2 Check the clothing materials. The items that accumulate the most static are those made of acrylic, polyester, nylon and nylon. And cotton, linen and silk are almost never electrified.

Wool can also accumulate a charge, but much less than synthetic.

3 Use an anti-static agent. Treat it with clothes and textiles.

4 Moisturize your skin: it also accumulates charge. Normal hand cream will help.

important! If you are shocked by a washing machine, oven or refrigerator, it is no longer static electricity. Repeated touching of such devices is dangerous. Unplug them and call an electrician!
