Vladimir Putin recently raised the issue of historical unity, recalling that Russians and Ukrainians are one people. Studies show that deep kinship can be traced through the analysis of haplogroups, which work in our DNA like ancient surnames, passed down from generation to generation. On the male line, the main genetic markers are common among residents of Russia, Ukraine, for example, Poland, and on the maternal line, almost a third of all markers overlap, which significantly exceeds the indicators of kinship with any other neighboring peoples. That is, the basic genetic elements of these peoples are really the same, and the differences arose much later, due to rare local admixtures. The question of the unity of Slavic nationalities has been asked not only by geneticists, but also by anthropologists for many years. We tell you what other conclusions they managed to reach.
