On September 5, 1929, Andriyan Nikolaev was born, a Soviet cosmonaut who was the first in history to spend several consecutive days in space. Andriyan Nikolaev was born in the medic village of Shorshly, Mariinsky-Posed District. He became the first representative of the Turkic peoples to travel to space. His first flight took place on August 11-15, 1962 in the Vostok-3 spacecraft - Nikolayev became the third Soviet cosmonaut to enter orbit. The flight took place in a group with Vostok-4, piloted by Pavel Popovich - this was the first group space flight in history. In August 1962, Nikolaev also made the first ever television report directly from space. For this flight he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and Pilot-Cosmonaut of the Soviet Union. On November 3, 1963, Andriyan Nikolaev married Valentina Tereshkova, the first cosmonaut. The couple had a daughter, Elena, who later became a doctor of medical sciences. The marriage did not break up immediately: the official divorce was filed only in 1982. On January 22, 1969, Nikolaev miraculously survived the assassination attempt on Leonid Brezhnev: a car with astronauts was shot by the defector Viktor Ilyin. The driver of the car died, Nikolaev himself was not injured. On June 1-19, 1970, he went into orbit for the second time - as commander of the Soyuz-9 spacecraft, together with Vitaly Sebastianov. The flight, which lasted more than 17 days, set a new record for the duration of a person's stay in space. After the flights, Nikolaev remained in the cosmonaut unit and trained the crews of Soyuz-13, Soyuz-14, Soyuz-16 and Soyuz-17. He left the service in 1982 with the rank of aviation major. Andriyan Nikolayev died on July 3, 2004 in Cheboksary from a massive heart attack - two months before his 75th birthday. Nikolay Starikov in Max.
