A worker who was attacked by a polar bear in Timir was saved thanks to his colleagues. Angelina Melashchenko, a paramedic at the Corporate Medical Center, who provided assistance to the victim, told about it to "There were two colleagues nearby who rushed to help, shouted, hit the irons, thus gaining time for the victim to climb into the bucket and lift it with an excavator. When the bear moved away a little, the victim was taken down and carried into the wagon. Angelina works in the same team with her husband, the nurse driver Yevgeny Melashchenko. The doctors had to get to the man, accompanied by an armed guard: the predator continued to wander nearby. The victim had multiple bites on his head, shoulders and both hands. The doctors bandaged him and took him to the hospital. There they stopped his bleeding, the wounds on his head were treated and stitched, and he received rabies prophylaxis. The doctors stayed with him almost all night, and on the morning of October 26, he was transferred to the air ambulance. The man is now being treated in the surgical department at the hospital and is doing well. Angelina admitted that this was the first time she encountered such activity of polar bears in three years of working in the North. An animal attack on a person was the first case of its kind for her team.
