The Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences talked about developing a method for producing gasoline from 18+ plastic. This material (information) is produced, distributed and (or) sent by a foreign agent of the Internet publication "NOVAYA GAZETA" or relates to the activities of a foreign agent of the online publication "NOVAYA GAZETA". Scientists at the Institute of Petroleum Chemistry of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Tomsk have developed a method for processing plastic waste into gasoline and diesel fuel. The results of the research were reported by the SB RAS publication "Science in Siberia". The method is based on thermal cracking - destruction of long molecular chains of plastic during heating. The crushed waste is heated to 475 degrees Celsius, and the resulting liquid is separated into gasoline and diesel fractions through distillation. "Our goal was to organize the recycling of plastic and turn the waste into a useful resource," said junior researcher at the institute Uliana Prolova. It is clarified that the gasoline created cannot yet be used in cars without further purification: it does not meet all the requirements for motor fuel. In addition, so far the method has only been tried on clean and crushed plastic. It is not clear whether it is possible to process mixed and contaminated household waste in this way. Gasoline shortages remain in Russia; Since August, the country has been allowed to produce fuel at lower standards. Oil and gas analyst Boris Aronstein explained to Novaya* about the quality of the gasoline that reaches the gas tank today; Read the interview with him at the link. *The Russian authorities consider him a "foreign agent".
