Experts: The damaged camera in the Russian Zavezda module on the ISS is placed at the request of NASA. After the Fedor robot was delivered to orbit, the leaks were continuously eliminated there 18+. Roscosmos, at NASA's request, will drop the transit chamber in the Zavezda module on the ISS, rocket launch analyst Georgy Trishkin said, citing sources. "It will no longer be used to unload Progress cargo ships, but they will dock there only to repair the station's route (without opening the gate)" - says the expert. It is impossible to completely abandon the use of this docking hub, since in addition to correcting the route, it is necessary to refuel the station, added popular scientist Vitaly Egorov*. According to him, now Russian cargo ships will have to make two dockings: first at Obed Junction to unload, then at Zavzda to refuel and raise the ISS orbit, but this is the lesser of two evils. Roscosmos has not yet officially confirmed plans to preserve the camera. Problems with leaks in the Russian part of the ISS appeared in 2019. Experts suggested that the crack appeared due to the delivery of the Fedor robot to the station: that's when the Soyuz MS-14 spacecraft failed to dock for the first time. Dmitry Rogozin, who at that time was the head of Roscosmos, reacted to this as follows: "Poor Fedor, he was accused of everything. Did he bang his head against the shell in desperation? Of course not." The first crack was repaired, but new ones were found underneath. In 2025, Roscosmos reported that the chamber was completely sealed and claimed that "there are no more leaks in the Russian section of the ISS". But in June 2026 he reported a new leak. *The Ministry of Justice included him in the register of foreign agents.
