The political scientist Alexander Kinb, who is in a pre‑trial detention house on suspicion of attempted drug trafficking, began a hunger strike, reports the project "Word for Defense", quoting lawyer Mikhail Biryukov. According to Biryukov, Kinb was transferred to the largest cell in the pre‑trial detention house, designed for 34 people, and it holds 35 prisoners. "Instead of a bathroom there is a hole in the floor, and because of the plaster on his leg that broke in two places, he cannot go to the bathroom. Because of this he cannot eat. We have taken all possible measures to ensure he will be transferred today to conditions suitable for his health condition," said the lawyer. Kinb, a well‑known expert on elections and regional politics, was arrested in September, accused of selling drugs on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). This happened a few days after the elections for the state Duma and regional parliaments. Kinb does not plead guilty. A few days after the arrest it became known that Kinb suffered severe injuries during his arrest. Due to the fracture, he participated in the court hearing via video link while his leg was in plaster. However, the court in the city of Moscow dismissed the defense's complaint, and kept Kinb in pre‑trial detention. *The Ministry of Justice included him in the foreign agents register
