The authorities advised hotels, cafes and restaurants to introduce a "Russian breakfast" - with porridge, cheesecakes and kvass 18+. This material (information) is produced, distributed and (or) sent by a foreign agent of the Internet publication "NOVAYA GAZETA" or concerns the activities of a foreign agent of the online publication "NOVAYA GAZETA". The Ministry of Industry and Trade recommended hotels, cafes and restaurants to highlight a separate category in their menu - "Russian breakfast", as a result of the concept of the project on the department's website. The department complained that in catering establishments "it is quite common to find "English breakfast", "continental breakfast" or "French breakfast", while "Russian breakfast" and breakfasts based on national traditions are offered much less. According to officials, this "creates inconvenience for domestic tourists", and foreign guests "are denied the opportunity to join local culinary traditions and learn something new" about Russia in gastronomic terms. As a "Russian breakfast", the Ministry of Food and Agriculture recommended that factories serve porridge, cheesecakes, pancakes, cottage cheese, meat, fish dishes, pies, kolbyaki, cornichons, dumplings, victuals, shenggi, ginger, jelly, kvass, fruit drinks, herbal tea, and the like. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade made a reservation that this would not affect cafes and ethnic restaurants with "obvious specialization": for example establishments that serve dishes from Georgian, Japanese and Italian cuisine. The department also plans to develop a separate symbol for the "Russian breakfast" together with a working group for the popularization of traditional Russian cuisine. Last year the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced plans to develop standards for Russian cuisine. Deputy Minister Roman Chekoshov said at the time that in Russia there is no "official description of the term "Russian cuisine".
