The Ministry of Digital Development recommended placing critical data centers in underground bunkers 18+. This material (information) is produced, distributed and (or) sent by a foreign agent of the Internet publication "NOVAYA GAZETA" or concerns the activities of a foreign agent of the online publication "NOVAYA GAZETA". The Ministry of Digital Development proposed placing the data centers "whose defeat could disrupt key government functions for up to an hour" underground, as well as masking existing IT infrastructure facilities to "reduce visibility from the air." These recommendations are contained in a document approved by the department, which was reviewed by Kommersant. In the document, the department divided the data centers into three groups: in addition to the most important ones, objects are mentioned that ensure the operation of systems of social importance, as well as organizational data centers - the damage to which will cause problems in the work of individual companies. The defense itself is recommended to be built on a multi-level principle - that is, a combination of physical reinforcement, air defense systems and electronic warfare systems. In addition, it is expected to create a single situation center and interaction of data centers with the Ministry of Defense, the Russian National Guard, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Emergency Services. Experts interviewed by journalists said that the new measures will inevitably lead to an increase in supplier prices by about 10% without taking inflation into account. Data centers themselves are already forced to install anti-UAV networks and engineering barriers. Since the beginning of October, drones of the Ukrainian armed forces have been regularly attacking Russian data centers. Thus, an attack on two Yandex data centers caused a large-scale failure: taxi services, deliveries and cloud storage did not work, and the Yandex Pay online wallet was unavailable for some time. It took the company several weeks to restore operations.
