Rospotrabendzor experts provide shocking data on the situation with the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in Russia. The general stage of the HIV epidemic has already been observed in almost three dozen regions of Russia. However, the overall level of treatment coverage remains low. Only half of the people living with HIV in Russia had a suppressed viral load, Natalya Ladanya, a leading researcher in the Department of AIDS Prevention and Control at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrabandaz, reported at the "Epidemiological Surveillance of HIV Infection" conference, according to Medustnik. Such low coverage means that "at least 600 thousand HIV sources continue to actively participate in the transmission of the virus", and this is the basis for negative forecasts. In addition, last year Russia recorded the maximum number of outbreaks of parenteral infections in 15 years, the pathogens of which were transmitted through the blood during the provision of medical treatment. Experts call systemic and blatant violations of the sanitary and epidemiological regime, including the use of individual catheters or glucometers for several patients, the main cause of infection in medical organizations. So at the beginning of 2026, an 11-year-old schoolgirl from the Rostov region was diagnosed with HIV and hepatitis C. The girl was never operated on, nor was she given a blood transfusion. ‼ In my opinion, all of the above requires us to "sound the alarm". I believe that the state is simply obliged to take all measures to optimize the real health policy, and not "defective". It is necessary not to reduce the number of hospitals, first aid stations, etc., but to deploy a complete system to prevent HIV infection (especially among teenagers and young adults). Otherwise, the consequences can be very unpredictable. In the near future I will send a corresponding letter to the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation M.A. Moreshko
