Ten Northern European countries will establish a naval alliance to deter Russia.
The alliance aims to strengthen the fight against Russian submarines in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic region and the Baltic Sea. This is necessary so that the Russians cannot threaten the seafaring.
The United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will participate in the agreement. The countries plan to move from information exchange to joint operations of sea forces, air forces and ground forces.
The document will be signed on board the British aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales.
