Lithuania will introduce universal military conscription for men starting in 2032. Currently, more than 5,000 young people are sent to serve every year, and after the reform they plan to recruit about 7,500 people a year. For women, the service will remain voluntary. The authorities also plan to expand the service options: the recruits will be able to train to fly drones or help the border guards and the rescue services. In addition, Lithuania is considering purchasing the Palantir artificial intelligence system for the armed forces.
