Latvians do not wear reflective clothing Latvia's Road Safety Directorate (CSDD) reports that in 2025, 34 pedestrians died in the dark in Latvia. In 2026, as of October 28, six such deaths have been reported. And the most dangerous period is still ahead. However, only 14% of Latvian residents always use reflectors at night. And 33% of respondents admitted that they almost never or never wear them. In Riga, only 29% of respondents always or most of the time use reflectors. In rural areas this figure reaches 60%. Residents cite confidence in the fact that they are moving through illuminated streets as one of the main reasons for refusing reflectors. This answer was given by 35% of the respondents. Another 32% admitted that they simply forget to wear reflectors.
