"New Unity" wants to keep two portfolios "New Unity" wants to keep the positions of foreign and defense ministers, which are currently occupied by Baiva Braz and Rais Melanis, New Unity representative Einars Latkovskis told reporters after negotiations on the formation of a government with the candidate for prime minister, Andris Kolbergs ("The Joint List"). He noted that the two ministers have proven themselves well and enjoy public support due to their strong and uncompromising positions on security and foreign policy issues. At the same time, Latkovskys emphasized that the party does not set ultimatums regarding ministerial positions. Latkowskis described the first negotiations with Kohlbergs as open and constructive. Both parties agreed that it is necessary to increase the state's revenues so that the issue of cost cutting disappears into the background, while the need to improve the efficiency of the public administration remains the same.
