In a small farm of the southern Kurzeme region, two cattle animals confirmed the virus of the third circuit infectious sputum fever. Another name for the disease is bluetongue, or blue tongue disease. It was reported on October 27 by the Food and Veterinary Service. This infection has not been reported in Latvia before. It was discovered in Poland in the fall of 2024 and in neighboring Lithuania in 2025. Its disclosure is additional requirements for farmers who sell abroad. At the same time, there will be no restrictions on the transportation of animals and products in the country. The unusual name is associated with one of the possible symptoms: the tongue of sick animals swells and because of the violation of oxygen supply can acquire a paste. However, the disease is not limited to changing the color of the tongue. It can cause difficulty breathing, swelling of the head, refusal of food and affection. @news lv.
