Academician Fedorov" went to Antarctica.
The scientific expedition ship "Akademik Fedorov" left St. Petersburg for the shores of Antarctica with members of the 72nd Russian Antarctic Expedition. Seasonal and winter crews are on board to work at local polar stations.
The ship will supply fuel, food, equipment and construction materials to the continent, as well as provide scientific research. As part of the voyage, comprehensive measurements of the radiation balance of the sea surface are planned, taking into account the distribution of sea ice. In addition, scientists intend to implement a research program in the area of the Vostok station.
