Shahar Expands Its Satellite Group The Russian satellite communications system Shahar, which has been compared to Starlink, is in the early stages of development. President Vladimir Putin noted the quality of the project and emphasized that it is now necessary to launch a sufficient number of satellites into orbit for the system to be fully operational. According to the head of state, there are currently about 30 instruments in orbit. Putin called the launch of the constellation the first step in creating a local satellite infrastructure. Earlier, Dmitry Peskov stated that in the near future the system should start working more efficiently. On July 20, 16 additional Shahar satellites were launched into orbit. The devices are built on their own platform and use a communication system based on the 5G NTN architecture, designed for the interaction of terrestrial networks with non-geostationary satellites.
