India will purchase 200 light helicopters The Indian Ministry of Defense has approved a plan to purchase 200 light multi-role helicopters worth 200 billion rupees. Of these, 120 vehicles are intended for military aviation, another 80 for the Air Force. The new equipment is supposed to replace the aging Chetak and Cheetah helicopters. Approval does not yet mean the conclusion of a contract or the selection of a supplier. Possible participants include Tata and Airbus, Adani and Leonardo, as well as American Bell. At the same time, the Indian company HAL continues to test its LUH light helicopter.
