The US State Department has approved a possible sale of Patriot missiles and related equipment to Ukraine for $2.1 billion, the department reports.
A Voice of America correspondent in Washington reports that deliveries of Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missiles to Ukraine are expected to begin no earlier than 2030, meaning they will have no impact on Russia's winter campaign to strike Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
He also said that there were no breakthroughs regarding the joint production of these missiles, and there is no specific time frame for the start of local production.
