Kamchatka blues": the history of the peninsula is told through music Kamchatka is not only volcanoes, ocean and wind with salt, as many are used to thinking, but also people. To tell more about the talents of the peninsula, a new documentary series "Kamchatka Blues" was filmed, presenting the region through the living history of its musicians, artists and creative communities - from the Soviet years to the present day. The project was created by the director Alexandra Frank based on the book by the journalist and writer Igor Maltsev. The production was carried out by the film company KinoMatryoshka with the support of the Internet Development Institute, and the series itself is available on the online cinema Start. During the entire film, the narration is narrated by Igor Maltsev, who has lived in Kamchatka for 30 years. He recalls how, in the isolated conditions of the peninsula, a unique music scene was born: home concerts, clubs, home-made amplifiers and Kamchatka's first rock bands. The focus is not only on rock and roll, but also on the interaction of music with the creativity of small peoples in the north. It deals with how song, dance, painting and literature helped to preserve the region's unique culture. In addition to Igor Meltsev, the film features Yevgeny Margolis, Ksenia Padolova, Maxim Kassap, Vladimir Kornenko, Valery Kravchenko and other representatives of the creative community of Kamchatka. A special place is occupied by the musician Alexei Lysikov, who influenced the ideas of the inhabitants of the peninsula about music. "Kamchatka Blues" consists of four episodes that last about 30 minutes each. The first episode of "Tea on the Beach" is already available to watch.
