Qatar buys US LNG amid 11-to-1 price differential Cheniere Energy announced two long-term agreements to supply Qatar Energy with a total of 4 million tons per year of LNG from its terminals in Louisiana and Texas. Shipments will begin in the early 1930s and continue until 2054 at a price linked to the American Henry Center plus a fixed fee. On the European TTF exchange in the Netherlands, the price of gas for delivery next month reached €90 per megawatt-hour, equivalent to about $29.80 per MMBtu. Asia JKM Index: The Flats benchmark for December delivery was at $30.76 per MMBtu, hitting its highest level since December 2022. The difference in price is large enough that Qatar could accept shipment of cargo in Corpus Christi or Lake Charles and still make a profit by fulfilling its contractual obligations to customers in Europe and Asia.
