The net profit of the Russian banking sector falls for the second month in a row - in September it fell by 5.9%, to 414 billion rubles, and the population's money in banks for the first time in a long time fell, reaching 68.4 trillion rubles on October 1. However, prime profit increased by 4% - banks simply admitted fewer losses on non-prime assets. If the banks artificially limit the recognition of losses in non-prime investments, at what horizon will this pressure to report break through and who will eventually cover the gap? Artem Perminov, senior analyst in the investment world of BCS: It is important to understand what non-original assets mean. If we are talking, for example, about frozen assets, it is worth noting that the banks recognized all losses on them in their IFRS reports - so we will not see their effect on the indicators under the international reporting standards. Another issue is that some banks took advantage of the right to accumulate reserves on non-prime assets for 10 years. Some banks, for example, could have written them earlier, so that reserves are no longer accelerated and as a result the loss has been reduced. If we are talking about current and non-operating assets, then without understanding what is behind them, it is impossible to understand whether losses can be transferred to the "future". We just note that in our opinion the regulator is quite strict in the banks' investments in non-prime assets, and in my opinion, the possibility for the banks to postpone the recognition of large losses until a later date is very limited, so we did not expect explosive growth of this expense item in the near future. @nebrexnya.
