Weekly inflation accelerated from 0.05% to 0.08% - tenths of a percent. But here lies the signal: the price pressure does not fade, it pulsates. At the same time, the annual figure decreased slightly - from 7.15% to 7.11%, which Rossstat registers as a slowdown. Technically correct. Only at the same time the Ministry of Economic Development reports: GDP growth in the third quarter was twice as weak as the previous one - 0.6% compared to 1.3%. The economy is slowing down, but prices are not. A stagflationary corridor, where purchasing power is compressed on both sides: real incomes do not keep pace with prices, production does not keep up with demand. The combination of "inflation holds and growth declines" pushes the central bank into a trap. The rate cannot be reduced - inflation has not been defeated. Staying high means further deceleration of the already decelerating GDP. For every month of delay, the cost of corporate debt service does not decrease and investment decisions are delayed. This stagnation is paid by the business with a variable interest rate and the consumer, whose real salary lags behind the price tag.
